Americans were awoken to scenes on Sunday morning after anti-Israel protesters in Michigan chanted ‘Death To America.” 

A video going viral on social media showed Activist Tarek Bazzi of the Hadi Institute giving a speech in front of pro-Palestinian protesters. Bazzi encouraged the protesters to pour their cants “upon the head of America.”

“Why are our protests on the International Day of Al-Quds, why are they so anti-America?” he asked. “Why don’t we just focus more on Israel and not talk so much about America? Gaza has shown the entire world why these protests are so anti-America. Because it’s the United States government that provides the funds for all the atrocities that we just heard about. Imam Khomeini, who declared the International Al-Quds Day, this is why he would say to pour all of your chants and all of your shouts upon the head of America.”

One protester immediately shouted “Death To America,” with others following chanting the slogan with him. Bazzi added that President Joe Biden and the entire U.S. system must be dismantled for its support for Israel.

“It’s not just Genocide Joe that has to go,” Bazzi said. “It is the entire system that has to go. Any system that would allow such atrocities and such devilry to happen and would support it – such a system does not deserve to exist on God’s Earth.”

The protest happened in Dearborn, Michigan. The Wall Street Journal in February dubbed the city “America’s Jihad Capital” after thousands marched in support of Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran. The protesters covered their faces with kaffiyehs and chanted slogans like “Intifada, intifada,” “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and “America is a terrorist state.” 

The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) first shared the video of Bazzi’s radical speech on social media. Bazzi gave his speech to mark the International Al-Quds Day, an annual pro-Palestinian event that is held on the last Friday of Ramadan. 

MEMRI’s director, Steven Stalinsky, told Fox News that Dearborn has been marking International Al-Quds Day for 20 years. Stalinsky added that the city, which has the largest Muslim population in the U.S., has been a “hotbed of hate for many years.”

“You can see rallies and sermons in support for Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran,” Stalinsky said.
