Trump Visits Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR Race
The former president made a grand entrance at the venue, flying over the event in his private jet, “Trump Force One.” Trump’s Deputy Director of Communications, Margo Martin, shared a video on X of the former president arriving at the race venue.
The video shows Trump wearing his signature “Make America Great Again (MAGA)” cap and waving to the crowds at the speedway on Sunday afternoon.
After arriving at the event, Trump met with the Gold Star families of service members who died while serving in the U.S. armed forces and watched the C-17 flyover from the track.
Trump also met with Richard Petty, an American race car driver and Austin Dillon, driver of the No.3 car for Richard Childress Racing, on the track.
Videos on social media showed attendees shouting “USA” and “You’re Our Man, Trump” as the former president made his way to the pit road viewing box at the speedway.
The race was slated to kick off at 6:00 p.m. EST. However, before the race began, the former president participated in a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives in defense of the country.
The Coca-Cola 600 is a NASCAR Cup Series race that takes place annually during Memorial Day weekend. Trump’s visit to the Coca-Cola 600 race marks the first time a current or former president has attended a race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Trump’s appearance at the race comes after the prosecution in his hush money trial rested its case on May 20, followed by the defense on Tuesday.
The closing statements on the case are scheduled to begin on May 20. The former president is pleading not guilty to 34 counts of falsification of business records in the case.
