Former President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s attack on Israel wouldn’t have been possible if he were still in the White House.

“ISRAEL IS UNDER ATTACK! This should never have been allowed to happen – This would NEVER have happened if I were President!” Trump wrote on his Truth social app.

This was the former president’s first post following news that Iran had launched dozens of drones against Israel, set to arrive Saturday evening. 

On Saturday, Iran began its attack on Israel by launching up to 500 suicide drones, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) confirming this in a statement.

“The aerospace unit of the Revolutionary Guards has attacked targets in Israel with dozens of drones and missiles in reaction to the Zionist regime’s crimes, including the attack on the consulate section of Iran’s embassy in Damascus and martyring our commanders and military advisers in Syria,” the statement reads.

According to a local news report, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that more than 200 missiles and drones were fired and that it intercepted the vast majority.

The military also said that a number of small hits were recorded in southern Israel, with minor damage to infrastructure.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has since pledged his support for Israel.

“President Biden has been clear: our support for Israel’s security is ironclad,” National Security Council Spokesperson Adrienne Watson said on Saturday. “The United States will stand with the people of Israel and support their defense against these threats from Iran.”

Trump also slammed Biden, who returned to the White House on Saturday to consult with his national security team about events in the Middle East.

“AFTER READING MY TRUTH, BIDEN’S HANDLERS CONVINCED HIM NOT TO RELEASE HIS TAPED SPEECH ON ISRAEL,” Trump wrote. “HE’LL NOW ATTEMPT TO DO IT LIVE, PROBABLY TOMORROW. HE DOESN’T WANT TO LEAVE HIS HOUSE, WITH THE CORVETTE, IN DELAWARE!!!”

Biden had already left Delaware, his home state, where he spent the weekend of Saturday evening. The president is now in the White House, where an administration spokesperson said he would meet with his national security team.

“Due to universal outrage and my TRUTH, Crooked Joe Biden has been forced to go back to the White House tonight instead of tomorrow. Good!” Trump wrote in another post.

Trump followed up with another post, writing, “AMERICA SUPPORTS ISRAEL!”
