Rashida Tlaib Snaps At Fox News Reporter Over Question

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich) snapped at a Fox Business correspondent late Wednesday over a question on the “Death to America” chants in her district.

Tlaib has been quiet over the viral video of the Al-Quds Day rally in Dearborn, Michigan, in which participants chanted “Death to America.”

During the rally, one speaker, Tarek Bazzi, called the U.S. one of the “rottenest countries” in the world for siding with Israel.

When asked by Fox Business correspondent Hillary Vaughn about the chants, Tlaib snapped at the reporter and accused the outlet of using racist tropes.

I don’t talk to Fox News!” the congresswoman repeated several times. “I don’t talk to people who use racist tropes.

“Why can’t you just say whether you condemn people that say death to America,” Vaughn asked. “Why are you afraid to talk to Fox?”

“Fox News is not – listen, using racist tropes towards my community is what Fox News is about, and I don’t talk to Fox News,” Tlaib replied. “Is Death to America’ racist? Is chanting ‘Death to America’ racist?” she asked.

Tlaib snapped further, accusing the news outlet of being Islamaphobic.

“I’m talking about your guys’ racist tropes,” Tlaib said. “You know, you guys know exactly what you do, and I know you’re Islamaphobic, but you guys gotta deal with it on yourselves; you’re not gonna use me.”

In a statement to the Daily Caller, the White House condemned the anti-America chants.

“The White House condemns these abhorrent and Antisemitic remarks in the strongest terms. As President Biden has said, America is the greatest nation on Earth and a beacon to the world,” White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said.

Dearborn City’s mayor, Abdullah Hammoud (D), condemned the chanting in a post on X.

“The hateful rhetoric heard on Friday does not reflect the opinion of the members of this community,” he said. “We reject all inflammatory and violent statements made at the gathering. The Dearborn community stands for peace and justice for all people. We are proud to call this city and this country home.”
