Prominent Biden Backer Secretly Recorded- Turns On Biden
President Joe Biden’s 2024 race took more damaging blows after one of his major backers made a shocking admission about the president.
The Democrat party is facing a huge dilemma following the president’s disastrous performance in the last debate.
Joe Biden’s performance led to several calls from several big donors demanding the president drop out of the race. Other prominent House Democrats have also joined the calls for Biden to drop out of the race.
ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos—a prominent Biden backer and former White House staffer—dealt a severe blow to the president’s reelection bid this week after a secret recording was released.
Stephanopoulos was recorded on Tuesday afternoon while walking on 5th Avenue in New York City. A pedestrian approached him and asked him whether he thought Biden should step down.
“Do you think Biden should step down? You’ve talked to him more than anybody else has lately,” the pedestrian asked the “Good Morning America” co-host and “This Week” anchor.
Stephanopoulos did not answer the question directly but insisted that he does not think Biden can serve another four years.
“I don’t think he can serve four more years,” the ABC anchor said before walking away from the pedestrian.
Stephanopoulos has since tried to walk back his response after the recording found its way to TMZ. The ABC anchor released a statement through a spokesperson where he insisted that he should not have responded to the pedestrian.
“Earlier today, I responded to a question from a passerby. I shouldn’t have,” Stephanopoulos said in the statement.
His network also distanced itself from the damaging comments, with an ABC spokesperson releasing a statement saying, “George expressed his own point of view and not the position of ABC News.”
Stephanopoulos landed the first interview with Biden following his disastrous debate performance. The interview, an attempt to clean up the disastrous debate performance, went badly for Joe Biden and left many unconvinced about the president’s chances against Former President Donald Trump.
