Musk’s Threats Fall Quiet

Before the bill’s passage, Elon Musk was a vocal critic, labeling it a “disgusting abomination” that would “bankrupt America.” He threatened to primary Republicans who supported it and even floated launching an “America Party” to challenge the GOP. 

“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” Musk posted on X on Tuesday

Yet, since the bill cleared Congress, Musk has gone silent, leaving observers wondering if his bark was bigger than his bite.

Republicans Unfazed

GOP lawmakers remain confident, brushing off Musk’s earlier threats. 

“No, Elon Musk is for the country,” said Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), a House Freedom Caucus member, when asked if colleagues feared Musk’s retaliation. 

Another Republican, Rep. Brian Jack of Georgia, dismissed the threats, noting, “Similar threats have been made before, and I’m unsure if anything’s come of those.” The party’s unity behind Trump suggests Musk’s influence may be waning.
