The investigations center on allegations of misconduct, including Brennan’s potential false statements to Congress regarding the discredited Steele dossier. CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred evidence of Brennan’s wrongdoing to FBI Director Kash Patel, prompting a formal probe. 

“I am glad to see that the Department of Justice is opening up this investigation,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime.”

Steele Dossier Controversy

A recent CIA review revealed that Brennan pushed for the inclusion of the Steele dossier—funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the DNC—in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), despite its lack of credibility. The review noted that this decision “ran counter to fundamental tradecraft principles,” undermining the ICA’s integrity. 

Brennan, however, testified to the House Judiciary Committee in May 2023 that he opposed its inclusion, a claim contradicted by declassified records. DOJ sources indicated that the FBI views Brennan and Comey’s actions as potentially constituting a “conspiracy,” though details of Comey’s specific probe remain undisclosed.

Clinton’s Role Exposed

Declassified documents further expose Brennan’s 2016 briefing to President Obama about a Clinton campaign plan “to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian security service.” Comey, along with then-Vice President Joe Biden and others, attended this briefing. The CIA forwarded this intelligence to the FBI, sparking the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation. 

Critics argue this reveals a politicized effort to target Trump, with Ratcliffe stating that Brennan and Comey “manipulated intelligence and silenced career professionals—all to get Trump.”
