Body Of Israeli Teen Shepherd Discovered, Sparking More Violence

The body of a missing Israeli teen shepherd was found on Saturday morning in the occupied West Bank. Israeli authorities said he was killed in a terrorist attack.

According to Israeli media, the teen, identified as Benjamin Achimeir, was last seen leaving the settler outpost early Friday to tend to the livestock nearby. The sheep returned to the outpost hours later without him.

A drone spotted Achimeir’s body. Reports claim that he was found near the Malachei Shalom outpost, which is near the city of Ramallah and where he disappeared while herding sheep.

The teen is believed to have been shot, but no one has claimed responsibility for the murder.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tagged Achimeir’s death a heinous murder. He ordered the Israel Defense Forces, Shin Bet and Israel Police to conduct a wide-scale intelligence and operational probe into the Palestinian villages near where the boy was found.

“We will get to the murderers and their helpers as we do to anyone who harms the citizens of the state of Israel,” Netanyahu said.

However, the discovery of Achimeir’s body sparked intense violence by Israeli settlers in the Palestinian villages of al-Mughayyir.

According to reports, dozens of settlers returned to the village on Saturday and burned 12 homes and several cars. The Palestinian Health Ministry said three people from the town were injured, one critically.

Ever since the Oct. 7 terror attack, tensions between settlers and Palestinians in the West Bank, which is claimed as Palestinian territory, have been exceptionally high.

That’s when Hamas attacked South Israel, killed approximately 1,200 people, and abducted over 240 hostages.

Since then, the Hamas-run territory’s Health Ministry reported that Israel’s retaliatory offensive in Gaza has killed over 33,000 people.

In the West Bank, over 460 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli gunfire over the past six months.

According to a verified source, over 700,000 Israelis now live in the occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem. The West Bank alone is home to around 490,000 Israeli settlers. The territories were seized by Israel in 1967.
