More Embarrassment For Harris As Trump Claims Another Victory

Former Vice President Kamala Harris may be facing more embarrassment following her humiliating November defeat to President Donald Trump, after the president’s latest victory.

Trump and CBS have been locked in a $10 billion legal battle after the president accused the network of deceptively editing a “60 Minutes” interview with Harris to make her look good.

The October interview with Harris raised eyebrows after it showed the former vice president giving different answers to questions posed by correspondent Bill Whitaker on President Joe Biden’s administration’s efforts to stop the war in the Mideast.

While CBS claimed it did nothing wrong with the editing, the network refused to release the unedited version of the interview with Harris. The network refusal saved Harris, who sometimes struggled to answer questions on the campaign trail, a huge embarrassment.

According to the latest reports, Harris is now facing the prospect of living through that embarrassment after Trump scored a major victory this week. CBS announced this week that it will release an unedited transcript of the contentious interview to the Federal Communications Commission, part of President Trump’s ongoing fight with the network.

The network revealed on Friday that it will release the transcript to the FCC after it was compelled by Brendan Carr to do so. Carr, the FCC’s chairman, demanded that turn over the transcripts and camera feeds of the interview for a parallel investigation by the commission.

CBS revelation marks another positive turn for the president after reports emerged that CBS’ parent company, Paramount, has been talking to Trump’s lawyers about a settlement. CBS has not commented on the rumored settlement in Wall Street Journal and New York Times reports.

The rumored settlement came as a surprise as lawyers for the network had previously insisted they would fight the lawsuit, which is being closely watched by advocates for press freedom. However, reports suggest Paramount executives are seeking Trump administration approval for a sale of the company to another entertainment firm, Skydance. It’s not clear if the approval played a role in the rumored settlement.

Trump claimed in his lawsuit that CBS deceptively edited the interview to benefit Harris. The president also claimed that editing was done in a partisan manner and unlawful acts of voter interference.
