Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) slammed Vice President Kamala Harris this week after the vice president made serious allegations against the governor.  

With Hurricane Milton bearing down on Florida, DeSantis and state officials —-alongside the federal government— are working to provide relief and get everyone to safety. However, Harris told reporters that she had tried reaching DeSantis, but the governor refused to take her calls. The vice president claimed Desantis refused her call because he was playing politics. 

“In these crisis situations — these are the height of emergency situations — is just utterly irresponsible, and it is selfish, and it is about political gamesmanship, instead of doing the job that you took an oath to do, which is to put the people first,” Harris said while slamming the.

Desantis responded on Monday evening at a press conference, insisting that he had no idea Harris had tried to reach out to him. 

“I didn’t know that she had called, so I’m not sure who they called,” the GOP governor said. “They didn’t call me, and their characterization of it was something that they did, it wasn’t anything that anybody in my office did, in terms of saying that it was political.”

In another interview on Monday night, Desantis blasted Harris for trying to play politics with the pending disaster. The governor revealed that Harris had no role in the preparation for the hurricane. 

“She’s been vice president for three and a half years. I’ve dealt with a number of storms under this administration,” DeSantis said. “She has never contributed anything to any of these efforts. And so what I think is selfish is her trying to blunder into this. She has no role in this process.”

DeSantis noted in the interview that while he has dealt with storms under President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, Harris is the only one trying to politicize the issue. 

“She’s the first one who’s trying to politicize the storm, and she’s doing that just because of her campaign. She’s trying to get some type of an edge. She knows she’s doing poorly, and so she’s playing these political games. I don’t have time for political games,” the governor added.
