Donald Trump Opens Up About His Worries

Former President Donald Trump has opened up on his deepest fear as the November elections approaches.

The GOP presidential nominee has survived two attempts to kill him, with one of the would-be assassins missing him by millimeters. The other would-be assassin, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, got within 300 yards of the former president before Secret Service agents spotted him and opened fire.

Routh is a Democrat donor, and his social media revealed that he saw Trump as a threat to democracy.

Trump reflected on his close shave with death while speaking to Fox News host Brian Kilmeade. The former president revealed that both assassination attempts have become a source of concern for him.

“I do. I do,” the former president said when asked if he worried about his family’s safety. “I don’t talk about it, but I do. I have to worry about my family. I have to worry about everybody. I worry about you. I worry about everybody because we are under siege.”

The former president’s worries must have increased significantly after authorities revealed that Routh was able to get so close to Trump because he no longer has the same protection as when he was a sitting president.

Trump’s wife, former First Lady Melania Trump, had previously expressed concern that her husband’s first assassination attempt was being swept under the carpet.

“The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience,” said Trump, appearing on camera. “Now, the silence around it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder why didn’t law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech? There is definitely more to this story. And we need to uncover the truth.”

Congress recently voted unanimously in favor of a bill to increase security around the former president. The bill, which was voted  405-0, would see an increase in security around presidents, vice presidents, and major presidential and vice presidential candidates.

The vote comes just a few days after the second assassination attempt on Trump. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), stipulates that the Secret Service director must apply the same standards for determining the number of agents required to protect Presidents, Vice Presidents, and major Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates.

“We as a federal government have a responsibility to ensure the safety and the well-being of these candidates. One of them is going to be president, and the election should be decided by voters at the ballot box — not by an assassin’s bullet,” said Lawler. “And if the argument by the Secret Service is that they don’t have enough resources or they don’t have enough manpower,” he added. “Then that needs to be addressed immediately.”
